Creating The Workflow EP was as much of a tripped out abyss as the sounds on the project. It was composed over the course of about three months, in both my college dorm room in Cincinnati, and my room at home in Louisville; two different worlds for me. These two worlds and planes of existence led me to feel the way I felt on this project; stuck in nostalgia, stretched apart in the present, and reluctantly claiming my future amidst a haze of uncertainties.
I was working on another project at the time - a 12-song collaborative LP with a Louisville rapper - when Workflow hit me. I wanted to make something that didn’t necessarily tell a full story, but something that, nonetheless, could act as a window into the past few months of my life. I was mostly working on instrumentals for the hip-hop project, so the prospect of creating a cohesive EP without a vocalist of any sort was a challenge I welcomed.
This is the first project I’ve released in which I have truly put everything into the composition. I wanted each track to fully convey the feeling or emotion I was experiencing when making it. On this EP are spring evenings with friends, weary sprees of desolation, and moments when you realize life always comes full-circle. After all, this range of experience is simply part of what it means to live, and with all cliches aside, this is how I incorporate those experiences into my “workflow.”

Tinyforest (aka Dave Carroll) is an upcoming electronic musician and producer from Louisville, KY. His music is an eclectic range of sampled sounds, ambience, and melodies, infused with hip-hop influences. The Workflow EP is his first release with Dilated Time Records, and he is currently working on a full-length LP to be released in the near future.
